A Honda manufacturing plant, Honda Precision Parts of Georgia, LLC (HPPG), celebrated its 10th anniversary of manufacturing transmissions on May 12th, 2016. Over the 10 years it has been there, HPPG has grown from 179 associates in 2006 to over 500 today, and it has the capacity to build around 375,000 transmissions per year.

"We have made great strides during the last decade and our associates have been a driving force for our success here in Tallapoosa. Our future is bright and we look forward to sharing even more accomplishments with our associates and the local community as we continue to make high quality products for our customers." –Masahiko Kayama, president at HPPG

The production facility, located in Tallapoosa, GA, began with the production of a five-speed transmission when it opened, before investing in innovation and switching to the six-speed transmissions currently produced. This plant manufactures transmissions for Honda products, including the Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, and the 2017 Honda Ridgeline. To date, the plant has produced approximately 2.7 million transmissions.

HPPG celebrated this momentous occasion at its west Georgia facility, including members of the local community as well as Honda associates. Here at Honda of Ames, we’re proud to see Honda supporting American manufacturing jobs as well as the local communities that surround them. Honda’s philosophy of “build products close to the customer” continues to support American jobs, with Honda operating 19 major manufacturing facilities in North America.
