If the Honda racing division has one goal, it's hauling gluteus maximus and taking names. In this case, "names" translates to lap records. When they set out to build the Civic Type R, their goal was to set the standard on the Nurburgring in under eight minutes. Last May, they achieved that goal.

To commemorate the Civic Type R, unveiled at the start of the Geneva Motor Show, the brand unveiled a video that is sure to give their new hot hatch some serious street cred: a spin around the 'Ring in 7 minutes and 50 seconds, a best (and a record) for a front-wheel drive hot hatch.

Don't want to believe the hype? Check out the video and see for yourself. The Civic Type R hits Euro showrooms this summer.

Of course, there are no shortage of ways you can feel like a champ in a new Honda. Part of it, of course, is the experience. So swing on down to our Ames, IA dealership and sign up for a test drive with the model of your choice.
