Mugen means "Without Limit" in Japanese, so when Mugen Motorsports gave a new edition of the Honda Fit a makeover, we expected to see a revamp that is out of the hatchback's comfort zone. Mugen did not disappoint, and the amped-up 2014 Fit is just begging to be taken out for a test drive on a race course.
This next-generation model is a take on the Japanese edition of the sporty hatchback, and while it won't be sold at Honda of Ames anytime soon, it's exciting to see what the automaker has in store for our customers down the road.
Mugen Motorsports was created by Hirotoshi Honda, son of Honda Motor Company founder Soichiro Honda, in 1971, and while it is not owned by the Japanese automaker, it produces high performance motorsport-type parts for models like this Fit.
The Fit that Mugen has been working on has the new Japanese body style, which features highly structured and complex body panels and is more angular than anything we've seen from the automaker in recent years.
The alterations Mungen made to the vehicle are obvious both inside and out. On the exterior, it has a sport exhaust and side skirts for parts, and inside the cabin, semi-bucket and full-bucket racing seats can be found as well as a guage cluster for water temperature, among other sporty parts and features.
