Regardless of what you hear, keep your gas tank full in winter

Due to the high cost of living, many opt to run on a half empty gas tank. While this may seem like a cost-effective way, the long-term damage to your car will be costly. According to Honda of Ames, running on a full tank of gas is not a luxury, especially in winter. You will be saving yourself some time and money by keeping the tank full.

An empty tank in winter will give room for air to occupy. The air will have some water particles in it which will, in turn, condense on the wall of the fuel tank. If the water gets into the fuel system and to the engine, then you will have significant problems. A full tank will save you from cold if you are stranded somewhere.

Visit Honda of Ames for a scan and maintenance if you have left your car to run on an almost empty tank during the winter season.
