Save money on oil changes

Standard mechanical advice is that you change the oil every 3000 miles, but that is no longer the truth. Newly-produced vehicles have high-quality oil that lets the vehicle run smoother and longer. Many cars, trucks, and SUVs today only need oil changes every 5000 to 7500 miles.

Research from many different sources shows that getting an oil change every 3000 miles would be a waste of oil and money. Honda of Ames will know whether your vehicle needs to be serviced or not. But you can check on your own before heading to the dealership. If your oil is dark and gritty, then it is time to change it, and it is also good to clock the miles since your last oil change. Newer vehicles will have a signal on the dash that tells you it is time to change the oil. Save money by throwing out the old oil rules.
